Open letter to Arvind Kejriwal on his all male cabinet
(new) Alternate draft:
Since Akshay keeps opposing the use of strong words, instead of endorsing Vidyut's letter, an alternate draft is being formed. At least this should go to the website.
Original description:
Vidyut has written an Open Letter to Arvind Kejriwal highlighting importance of women's perspectives in govt decision making. https://aamjanata.com/open-letter-arvind-kejriwal-2/
I think we should endorse this letter and post it on our website. We should also bring more women voices to Indian Pirates.

Since there is no consensus, let's discuss this further and invite more comments by moving this discussion to our main group.
This will highlight importance of involving women in govt decision making.

1) Let AAP answer why in a press meet?
2,3) http://qr.ae/E7ySZ
4) I don't think "hey, we need a woman, so you be a cabinet minister" is a reason for a woman to be a cabinet minister
5) Men can and should work for women too http://www.heforshe.org/

The draft as it stands now:
In our society discrimination against women based on gender is ubiquitous. This is manifested in not just extreme forms like female foeticide or honour killings, but also daily life situations like restriction on their free movement especially after twilight, having none or inadequate public toilets, the list goes on. We need to eliminate this routine systematized discrimination if we want to be fair and give both halves of the population equal opportunities. This will be possible only by conscious interventions and giving more voice to women in policy making and governance. We have a representative democracy and any party or government that cares for fairness for all sections of society should include as diverse voices in their decision making as possible. This will enrich their decision making by considering diverse experiences, for, no matter how sensible and empathetic a person is, there are some things one can experience only if they are a woman. In this light we are concerned by and strongly condemn the fact that there is no women in Delhi cabinet led by Arvind Kejriwal. We request the AAP leadership to keep in mind that nobody is above critique, consider this issue more seriously and be answerable to the public about what made you choose a cabinet with no woman even though woman empowerment was a major point in your manifesto - arrogance or lack of belief in equality?
Assuming there are no edits, I'm creating a proposal for publishing this. (In fact, this is getting so drawn out that if I could go back in time, I'd agree on posting Vidyut's initial letter :P)

Post the less strong open letter to Kejriwal on the website Closed Sun 8 Mar 2015 8:34AM
We've been able to reach a consensus although there were disagreements in the beginning. This is a nice trend. The statement will be published on the redesigned website.
If nobody disagrees, we will publish the new draft on the Indian pirates website. It was written by Praveen and Akshay. Edits from females would still be welcome.
If disagreeing, please suggest edits.

Sounds good. Quick and painless. Makes the point. Also doesn’t belabor it (given our own current ratio :p). My letter is insulting, but as an individual, I can take liberties with speech an organization cannot. :D

I'm confused between the two ideas.. While I wholeheartedly agree that a woman in that cabinet does more good to women than a man, I am not sure whether that should be the sole reason to do so (I'm not stating that it is the case here.. I don't know much about the women involvement in AAP at Delhi. If there are worthy women candidates there, they MUST be given a chance). So am abstaining as it is better than blindly choosing a side.
