e-NABLE Press Kit Proposal 2025

Sarah Gelbard, e-NABLE Communications Coordinator

Sarah Gelbard has served as our communications coordinator since October of 2022. She has managed our hub forum and email inquiries, providing volunteers with resources and information. She has scheduled and facilitated our program of regular meetings, collaborated with guest presenters, published our monthly newsletters, produced e-NABLE volunteer profiles, assisted with writing and editing press releases and annual reports, and evaluated the activity of all chapters, and updated our global map. She has visited and interviewed e-NABLE volunteers in Portugal, Turkey, and Singapore. Sarah is a freelance journalist, previously at MPR News.

Project Summary and Purpose

To be housed on the e-NABLE website, a landing page for media will include press kit materials: a mission statement, contact information and links, an issue brief, articles, and press releases. These materials will increase visibility, helping journalists, potential donors, and new volunteers to understand e-NABLE’s history, mission and impact.

Project Description

Initial press kit materials will include:

1)     The e-NABLE mission statement, contact information, links to the chapters map, social media pages and other resources.

2)     A two-page issue brief presenting e-NABLE’s background, purpose, impact and future directions, with specific attention to content, layout and color design. It may be used as a recruitment, grant writing, media and fundraising tool.

3)     Three articles highlighting the activities of e-NABLE volunteers in Portugal, Turkey and Singapore.

4)     *Additional articles and press releases may be added to the press kit as e-NABLE continues to grow.

Scope of Work and Project Timeline

1)     Months 1 – 2: Transcribe interviews with e-NABLE volunteers, gather photos, write articles.

2)     Months 3 – 4: Write material for issue brief, including mission statement and organization description, history, impact statement, future directions statement, and chapter spotlight stories.

3)     Month 5: Revise issue brief content following community feedback, work with a graphic designer on layout and color design.

Funding

$2,750

Funding is project-based, reflecting an acceptable rate for media deliverables. The scope of work is broad, extending beyond Sarah’s role as a coordinator and requiring many additional working hours.

The $2,750 funding amount includes a press release ($100), a short-term contract with a graphic designer ($175), Sarah’s fee for issue brief content production ($1,575) and three articles with photographs ($900).

*If any additional feature articles or press releases added in the future require thorough work that extends beyond Sarah’s part-time hours as our communications coordinator, these may incur new costs ranging from $50 - $300.

I think that this is a good proposal as it facilitates the effective distribution of resources for our club as a community, generally speaking we don't want resources like this to go to waste. It is good that the e-nable branch leader in Vancouver is deciding to give these funds to other branches for their original use.

"helping journalists, potential donors, and new volunteers to understand e-NABLE’s history, mission and impact" - anything that helps with this is always valuable for us and I suspect others
