What data should we ask Police to provide for GovHack?
NZ Police provide a Statistics page and also List some datasets on data.govt.nz. They've received some quite detailed requests in the past and are working with Statistics NZ to release more granular data without compromising individuals' privacy and safety. What else would be useful to see from NZ Police?

I wonder if many people have access to https://media.police.govt.nz/media/ - the police realtime media interface feed. see https://forms.police.govt.nz/general/media-request

Do you have access to it Jo? Do you think it's worth requesting a GovHack account for the weekend, for our "When things go wrong" theme?

I do - I filled in the request form and got access personally a few years back when it came out. I'm still not 100% sure what 'journalistic purposes' are, but certainly keen to see more use of real-time feeds from emergency services - both inwards and outwards

What's the best way to get it, should I just apply, say "GovHack" and wait until they reject me? Or is there a better approach?

Give it a go, it's been years since I asked for mine, but they were quite reasonable
