Pay for Ministers of Parliment
On the 26th of February 2015 the Remuneration Authority (http://remauthority.govt.nz/) gave MP's a raise of between $8200-23,400 per annum.
It also noted that: "based on current movements in remuneration for top-level executive positions, the gap between market remuneration and the remuneration of senior members of the Executive and Parliament is increasing...the Authority continues to have concerns at the widening gap between the remuneration of Ministers and the chief executives and staff reporting to them and will continue to review the gap annually."

Tie MP's wages to the media wage of the country. Closed Mon 2 Mar 2015 2:05AM
8 people agreed with the proposal, 2 abstained, 1 disagreed, and 3 blocked the proposal. The blocks have it.
The decision is not to tie MP's wages to the median wage of the country as the question is wrong in some way.
The median income of wage earners and salaries was roughly $45,000 a year in 2014.
Agreeing would mean you think the Remuneration Authority should base MP salary on the median wage.
Dis-agreeing means you don't think the Remuneration Authority should base MP salary on the median wage.
Blocking means you believe the question to be wrong in some way.
Abstaining means you cannot decide either way for any reason.

I think the recent parliament pay increase is simply outrageous. I fully support this proposal.

It is difficult for those too wealthy to appreciate the plight of the less wealthy.

@kimdotcom Like in a startup, I think investment and any wages paid must reflect the value the MP brings to the party, and particularly, the strategic value in their ideas.

I have reservations about this proposal, and would prefer to engage in discussion before placing a vote.

The proposed level is too low, but agree the principle that it should be tied to a more realistic level. Tying to "top executives" (a fantasy compared with their median capability level) makes MP's part of the growing problem of the "wage gap"

I believe that the job of an MP particularly a minister should be well remunerated...TBH I wouldnt be against much higher pay packages....They do an important job. All our BEST people are in private sectors roles and this is why.

I agree as this would be a type of performance based reward for MP's. Raise your own pay by raising the living standards of all NZ'ers

I think we should be setting politicians pay via referendum.

MPs jobs are far too important. The impact on our lives through legislation they pass is far reaching. Their remuneration needs to reflect this.
