AL Alex Leith Public Seen by 8

Simon has indicated support from his workplace and his spouse to attend PGRSC on behalf of the FOSS4G 2025 organising committee.

This is a request for up to $2,000 AUD in support of that travel.

Support Simon Nitz with $2,000 AUD towards travel to PGRSC 2024 Closed Thu 14 Nov 2024 6:00AM

What is the decision you need to make?

We need to make a decision on whether we support Simon to attend PGRSC in 2024.

Why is this important?

Representation of one of the co-chairs at the PGRSC event will help us promote the 2025 FOSS4G event, and continue to develop relationships with Pacific people.

What are you asking people to do?

Vote your support or otherwise for this initiative.

For this proposal to pass, we need the majority of members to vote Agree.

If you Disagree, say why and what needs to change for you to Agree.

Simon is a big user and advocate...and a nice guy. I second the nomination.

I agree. Not only for Simon, but to also show OSGeo support (indirectly perhaps) to our Pacific friends

Agree, always good to have OO people at that conference, and being Simon the co-chair of 2025 is extra important he goes there and try to engage with the Pacific for it.

I am happy to include the Whanganui to AKL leg as well as long as the cap is AUD $2,000 and if that assists Simon (it may not).

Simon is the best advocate with all the work he has put into FOSS4G 2025.

I agree. His presence in Suva is also an awareness for the FOSS4G in Auckland next year.

To add to the conversation: the PGRSC people are actually looking for some more good presentations and workshops and if Simon is keen they would welcome him to present about his OS projects and/or OSGeo, and also run a workshop on OS stuff. Shall we maybe ask him about presenting/running a workshop? He's usually quite a keen presenter!
