Tangleball should make use of loomio
I feel that Loomio provides a good basis for managing some of the ongoing discussions and debates at Tangleball.
The suggestion is only to enhance the onsite discussions on Tuesdays or Saturday, and there is no intention to exclude those members who do not go online.
I suggest we introduce loomio discussions which can feed into the face-to-face conversations at Tangleball, where the votes that count will occur.

@jeremyread - I would suggest non-binding for now, until everyone is happy with it & being used more, but decisions here can become binding once the following Tues-eve meeting has taken place.
The exact process TBD.

Is there a way to completely kill the discussion option? This splinters discussions between meetings, discussion list and then on the voting site. More things to miss, more places to repeat ourselves..

@ed - the way I understand it (& I might be mistaken), is that you do not need to vote here, but rather at a weekly meet.
Whatever is "voted" here could help inform discussion/debate at a weekly & allow other unable to attend to at least give their 2c's, rather than being disenfranchised.
This might help: https://www.loomio.org/help#how-it-works

I think people are missing the point. I think loomio was mooted as an option to discuss things and help gain consensus, not as a platform for voting.
I assume this proposal is: Tangleball should use Loomio for discussing and voting. ?
What is the point if it is non binding?
That is the point in my opinion.
It is non binding, but allows people to discuss ideas. Imagine the chaos if 3 people made binding decisions for the rest of us. Oh bugger I forgot about parliament. lol
My suggestion would be to hack it, use it as a tool to allow info and discussion for those who cant make tuesdays or other meetings, and use it to lower the amount of debatey spam people recieve via mailing list. When all they want to know is stuff like "When is the next Makerday.
But Hey there is probably a better platform/app out there for this.

Ahhhh i think I see what @Ed is talking about. is mr Church's idea to use the vote function and give a reason for it in the comment box. But to disable the discussion function which allows lengthy posts?
Jaco van der Merwe Tue 27 Aug 2013 8:29PM
@mrck - I think we need to get a better feel for how to use it effectively.

I still cant see the difference between creating a discussion on here and a proposal. must be my computer is old like me. can anybody send a screenshot of the page with appropriate buttons visible showing where I should click please.
Me old, eyes are dim.
