Move discussion from loomio to diaspora*
As a newbie I wonder why I have to register at a service located in New Zealand, which does not guarantee my privacy and data security. Loomio uses software which is prone to several security risks like Cloudflare and services like Gravatar, Google Analytics, Google Font API and Facebook, which track my surfing behaviour and do not respect my privacy.
Why are feature proposals not directly discussed in diaspora*? I cannot find a plausible reason for this. diaspora* already supports discussions and surveys. It would be also a chance to reach the end user better and to be independent of third-party services.

This is no valid answer, because this is just a definition without any reason. In fact, there is absolutely no argument why to use loomio in favour of diaspora*.

One thing D* could use is "groups". Then there could be a podmin group where such things are discussed. Following hashtags is nice, it's almost the same mechanism really, but it doesn't allow you to see other members in the group, and all the posts just go in one sequential thread there. Maybe this is more of a "groups" feature request than anything.

More or less by coincidence, see this thread about moving discussion from Loomio to a self-hosted Discourse instance: https://www.loomio.org/d/Agop3EXq/outgrowing-loomio

I never doubted my clairvoyant gift.

The idea of moving to yet another third-party site is troubling to me, it's like a game of whack-a-mole here. The fact that the social media platform that we are 'building' can't support this discussion properly should be a giant wake-up call to the dev community. We need group pages!

Although this Discourse instance isn't run on Diaspora's core software, it's not third-party in that it is actually hosted on the Diaspora project's own servers and maintained by the core project members.
Diaspora's software has never intended to be a platform for group decision-making in order to run a complex world-wide project. And so it makes sense to use a tool designed for that purpose. I don't think groups in Diaspora would make it more suitable for such a purpose.
