2018 Census - Location
The census is New Zealand's most valuable source of information about the size and characteristics of New Zealand's population at low levels of geography. The location information collected in the census, combined with other topics, enables us to better understand and appreciate the differences between our communities, and to target resources where they are needed.
Local authorities, local government, and health authorities have specific requirements for census-based populations at low levels of geography for use in planning and development.
