Investigate a Tesla device for Free Electricity for all Kiwis

DU Cohen Glass Public Seen by 86

A giant Tesla type device has been built in a remote forest in Russia - the goal of which is to provide free electricity for Russian Citizens.

Should Internet Party, if elected, investigate setting up such devices in NZ with the aim of providing Free Electricity for all Kiwis?

I shouldn't have thought it advisable.

Neat. But I'm pretty sure this is a giant transformer station to create lightning strikes as the link suggests.
In the future this technology may well be used to capture real free solar wind energy. But our understanding of science pales to Tesla's.
But yes this device can put out more energy than is put in, however harnessing that energy has not yet been achieved, and I doubt any one will achieve it soon as little money is put into this research. Another problem is that positive results can't be achieved on a regular basis, depending on sun spot activity.
Obs; Size is important, The larger these devices are the more efficient they are.

not feasible - conservation of energy, and tragedy of the commons

It's obvious from the article that this device is not intended as a means of power generation. It's a testing facility for the development of insulators.

Note that "as the facility is really expensive to operate, it is only turned on for special occasions".

We have the disastrous Bradford reform to sort out first. Winston has said he will support any party that buys back the power stations, but I'm not sure if that is a firm policy bottom line of his. It remains a good idea.
Put simply, electricity prices and the inept stewardship of NZ's electricity generation, is the reason many of us are not voting for either of the two main parties.

@adamchennells It's my understanding that if we bought back our electricity stations, we'd come out on top due to the drop in share prices.

Tesla's Technology essentially requires the entire planet to cut over at the same time.... the science depends on the equilibrium across all spectrums....since the adoption of commoditised power generation / radio transmission (tv, satelite, FM, etc...) many of the bands are now taken up and split off into chunks.

This was the entire reason behind adopting Edison's Technology because it allowed governments to SELL power, SELL radio spectrum, SELL mobile communication and great a range artificially 'scarce' products that would have otherwise been free to the world.

So what im saying is that this would need to be a global initiative - there would be no way to test it without disrupting everything else, also......the US now have all sorts of WMD's which can disrupt the very essence of what you would need to begin testing in order to re-discover and fully realise Tesla's technology.
