UNITE WNC Core Principles and Practices
The following emerged from the Summit as our core principles and practices. What do each of these mean? Are we missing anything?
- Quality of Life
- Sustainability
- Collaboration / Cooperation
- Learning
- Partnership
- Shared interest and resources - The Commons

How should 'technology' or 'information technology' be integrated to these core principles/practices?
Steve Cooperman Thu 29 Jun 2017 8:05PM
Good question! For me, technology is a means and has been articulated in the mission and vision. It may make sense within the description for each of the values to articulate the role of technology, or at least where it makes sense.

What about "inclusive" and "supportive of diversity"?

Here are some ideas about how we might further define each of UniteWNC's principles (values?).
Quality of Life - We seek opportunities to use technology to improve the quality of life for everyone across our region.
Sustainability - We are committed to finding and implementing progressive technology solutions that protect, preserve, and enhance our resources.
Collaboration / Cooperation - We actively reach out to individuals, organizations, and communities to invite participatory problem-solving.
Learning - We rigorously pursue new information and diverse perspectives.
Partnership - Partnerships built on trust, integrity, transparency, and a commitment to inclusion are essential to our organization’s success.
(Still thinking on the one about the Commons and shared resources. I think it's super important.)

UniteWNC's Core Values Closed Fri 4 Aug 2017 3:02AM
The values below came out of the March 31-April 1 Summit. Kendra very eloquently elaborated on them. We are just missing a definition of what we mean by shared interests/resources. But for now, I wanted to see if we agree on this wording so we can continue to move forward.

My only concern is that partnership may be similar to Collaboration/Cooperation.

I've put suggested revisions for two of the points in the regular comments.

I also vote to combine collaboration and partnership

I would make one change: for collaboration -- change 'problem-solving' to 'solution-finding'.

Just to clarify, are these the Values mentioned in the meeting just now?
