Did you mean Inkscape? Or did you use The GIMP?

I used GIMP to make the design but I exported them the PNG because I was worried the file type GIMP uses wouldn't be easily viewable. (I just did a PNG because the old logo was shared as a PNG)

But take a look at my first draft I updated the original post to show my designs. Let me know what you think.

Is the inside meant to be a sketch of the final design, or is that the look you were going for? (Not sure how I feel about the stick figure as far as a professional logo.)

I like the diamon frame a lot too. And I was just trying to keep it really simple for the first idea and I can get more detailed on later versions. The stick figure was intentional but I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to make him more detailed as he is basicallythe focus of the overall design. I'll get to work on making a more detailed version.

Okay. I guess we'll see what others think of the stick figure. How about the color palette? Are those the three you want to go with?

Looking at it now on loomio I think i picked a pretty dark blue. I'll probably chage that to a lighter blue. The green might also need some fiddling around with also. But I like the yellow I used for the sun. And I think keeping the clouds a solid white looks good for them.

Makes sense. Come to think of it, I think I like the simple line drawing better. A bit less going on. We'll see what others think - @Cass? @jonheater?

Update: I realized the differently color sections (green lump below, yellow disc above) add additional complexity (hard lines) that the monochromatic version does not have. What if, instead of these extra line, we smoothed them out into one big vertical background gradient? Starting out green for the land below, fading smoothly into the blue sky, ending at a hint of yellow for the sun above?

I still think we have more of a scene than a logo, though. Maybe breaking it out of the frame is what's necessary to keep it simple. Here's one way that could be done, with a simpler palette. Vector attached.

Good contributions, everybody. Opinion: since our adventures are very active, it'd probably represent us better to have the character (if we're still going with that theme) more obviously doing something intense than just sitting (or even walking). Maybe even something more akin to this picture!

I'll remake this digitally when I get home tonight. I'll also make another verison with my own changes and share that also. Is this made after a specific bird or did you use anything as refrence? If you could share that also that would help a lot!

Hi Bryson, thank you! Yes, there is a refrence photo, the bird is an American Gold Finch, New Jersey's state bird. Here is the photo

I made your design digitally. What do you think? I think if we simplify this it would work very well. I think the scene of a mountain or activity or such is less logo like than a minimalist design like your bird would be. If I have time this weekend I'll work what I think might be improvements to your idea.

It's ugly cause I'm not the best on a tablet, but here's my concept idea

Here's what I came up with:

To speed this along I went on Fiverr for some designs. Given our club information and preferred colors, these were the results.

Ignore the watermark, there's a non-watermark preview there as well. We'll get the full versions when we're done, but for now I've sent for some changes.

I liked the green one (posted previously) better than the red, but our officer group seemed to prefer the red one. I had the red one updated with a few more of our original elements, take a look. What do we think? Too much?

I like it with both the backpacker and the raven. I think if you move the raven up and over a little the logo would look better.

In the meeting today we went over apparel options. It looks like the green one is pretty perfect for green clothing.
