Software Freedom Day 2018 is on September 15. Currently there are only two events in India registered in the official SFD website. It will be great if we can conduct more events. New events in a city/region can be added here. We can also make use of this thread to share event ideas, plans and other useful resources such as posters.

Please send me a short write-up and photographs of events for inclusion in FLOSSNews, the newsletter of ICFOSS. More photographs and a short write-up of just one paragraph giving when and where the programme was held would be great.

We conducted an event at 4pm 15th September, on Hindi Department auditorium, CUSAT with partnership of DAKF. DAKF membership campaign inauguration took place on the same day. There were about 40 people present. Two talks were arranged, first one was "Involvement of freesoftware in keralarescue mission", which was done by Mujeeb K and other one was "Importance of Knowledge Freedom and its Present-day Importance" where he introduced Wikidata. The DAKF membersip campaign was inaugurated by passing the membership form by CUSAT IT Department Associate Professor Vinod Kumar to DAKF District President Dr. P K Baby. Kannan V M gave the welcome speech, Kiran S K gave the vote of thanks. Athul V S gave a short speech on the importance of such events and being part of community. Stickers and other swags were distributed and the event was concluded by 6.30pm.
