Discussion: Long Service Leave

We have not been keeping aside provisions for long service leave and need to as this is a legal requirement for all employees. Working towards a proposal that 1.67% be set aside in each person's payrun to cover this. There are some logistic involved: do we back date this? do we set up a separate account for LSL provisions? Normally LSL is payable for between 5-10 years of continuous service. What do we do with money that has been set aside by someone who leaves before this time period?

Thanks Kerry In regards to no 4, I meant to ask is this from our buckets, or from say the 15% or would it be added onto that 15%

It comes from individual buckets-it is wages

I think these are great questions, but I think we need to clarify if we are contractors or employees, as per previous discussion, then we may not need to move on this...

@kerry63 Being the 1st pay run for October is this week (today), was this proposal acted upon based on the responses? I did not see anything on my payslip (or I might presume it may not show on the payslip but rather the bucket report)?

Hi Jason-yes, a good pick up. Bascially we did not have time to do the set up before payrun and we are haoping that we will have this in palce for the next payrun.

Apologies everyone but there has not been time to set up the background work on our accounting system to process LSL as yet. Can we amend the start date to the first pay run in November?
