How to remove my earlier response? I got the reply, my earlier response is not counted

Sorry, I didn't understand you question. did you want to change your vote or remove your comment?

Yes, I was attempting to remove the comments thinking it is related to the vote. But when I looked at the vote results I found out my new vote eliminated the old one.

so is there a way to remove the first comment?

I think you click on "edit" and from there you can delete

The edits work here but not on the comments of the poll

@Marita Moll I guess that's my point. Should we be using the calls so much for just briefings or could those be better done as webinars or something. Seems to me the reason for making a presentation on a call is to get feedback, no?

@Nadira AL-Araj , you seem to be suggesting that we might want to use ONLY the chat for questions/comments to avoid repetition so we don't ever call on anyone to intervene verbally? A part of me likes that idea but I don't think we'd get away with it!

Agree, particularly to those on the audio bridge but as much as possible to encourage comments/questions on the chat that would be good

Please NO. You have people who are more writer than speaker and the other way around. I realy prefer to talk but the tools (like this one) obliged me to write. Too much...

That makes sense but how do we keep people from babbling on too long or saying exactly the same thing as the person before them. We need to. do some training perhaps.

I suggest 2 things

Use a 2’ timer for all

Ask the usual suspects to be exemplary

Another way, at the beginning of the meeting to remind the participants that no need to take the mic if the discussion point was raised by any other participants.

Some participants think that talking in the session gives indication that they are active. Maybe to assure to the participants that getting and contributing into drafting team what makes an active participant.

Good idea. Perhaps this is a good reason to use polling so people feel engaged but don't feel the need to make repetitive interventions

Perhaps folks can post +1's in chat in agreement; we really should limit use of polls to answering a proposed position or question.

Why do you say that @Justine C. ? Isn't a poll quicker than counting +1s in that chat?

Depends.

1. Polls are better for yes or no questions. And if staff need to prep for polls in advance, then how to use polls in relation to comments coming in on the fly?

2. I feel too many polls are disruptive and folks may get lost in terms of timing - so polling during a call may be problematic.

Well, it's all an experiment but polls can be yes no, multiple choice, multiple choices. That covers a lot of ground. You're trying to get feedback on language and I thi K that's REALLY rough. Multiple languages, etc. People presenting to the CPWG need to
have thought questions, I think. Which of these are priorities? Which of these two things is more important, etc. Most aren't really capable of suggesting better language. Just my thoughts on a Saturday evening

I am only answering to "Why wouldn't a +1 in chat work as well as or better than a poll to indicate support for a comment?"

To be clear, we are on the "More Disciplined Chat" thread.

JZ seem this is an open question not a proposal. This is a good exercise to check the sort of sentences that we built to leave, either to comment or vote. An Idea would be debating it and a Proposal would be at the end of debate with a sentence more complete, then we will be vote. A bit like our process to discuss positions in Alac that you presented but throug this great tool, loomio.

Sure. More than anything, I was trying to show how Loomio might be used. There are a couple ways to take the "temperature of the room," one of which is the Poll and the other is the Proposal, which is just another kind of poll with fixed answers. Ideally, we would do a bunch of these little things along the way in a conversation to see if consensus was forming and ultimately, if we got a strong response one way or the other, we would have a documented consensus that we wouldn't need to constantly revisit...at least not without intention! ;)

It maybe also usefull for the one(s) leading a(ny) call to try to engage all. Asking the one not talking (or writing) to take the mic and help them to be beter engage.

You mean just call on someone to speak like they do in law school? Not sure how people will react to being put on the spot

I think that is what he was saying. But you could also say, if
you prefer to respond in the chat instead of speaking that is also
OK. This way we can encourage them to engage but also give them an
out

Yes Judith. We need to find a way or ways to involve more people. We can just leave the mic to us the usual suspects even if waht we say is very important and so unique ;)
