For those on the [email protected] list as well as in the member's subgroup there have been a handful of invitations to see the new lab and partake in pizza. However, we haven't gathered with a larger group of folks from around the city. Obviously the SARS-CoV-2 levels have played a role in this hesitancy to gather. While levels are still high I'd like to start thinking about an event in September where we can hopefully have a proper opening party.

Additionally, the summer interns have been working with the materials we have on hand (and with some donated materials) to express a polymerase to use in defined PCR reactions for programming or for member projects. We've discussed a final presentation to our community about their work and this would also be a nice thing to gather for.

This thread is to discuss ideas for such and event. Sorry for those not in NYC for a potentially irrelevant communication (you should be able to unsubscribe from this thread to prevent being overrun with posts, to anybody posting a poll please send to only those in the thread not the whole group). However you are welcome to also submit your input and advocate for a remote experience (which may be more robust to factors that would limit in person interaction).
