What about getting rid of the painter?

I think we can afford to get rid of the painter. I think that the other Nintendo emoticons are good but they wouldn't gel with the ones we have at the moment

If I compare both sets of emoticons, what I see as the bigger problem is not the design, but rather the variety of emotions portrayed by the emoticons.

Actually, both sets lack very important portrayals IMO.

@gp I had the same thought. But some of them could work... Look at the winking Diddy Kong, or the smiling Ness one. I could edit them a bit if we do end up wanting to use them.
