Roles
What jobs do you want to do to support the development of crews and congregations?
I hope if we compare our experiences across different communities, we may find common roles.

I'm a bit of a human-centered philosopher/theorist. I look for understanding, in the depths which are needed to start to match the endless complexity of humans, as opposed to the rather predictable complications of technical systems -- and in particular, putting the theoretical and the technical firmly in the place of serving the humans. Which it is often able to do rather well, if treated properly! The understandings that I look for are the ones which we can use for the common good, at whatever level of being we can manage at any moment. I particularly enjoy broadening my own understanding by listening deeply to others, and I get excited when people start to understand each other better, and start to interact generatively, towards co-creation.

I seem to have segued into a role that could be called Tool Librarian. I'm constantly researching new free code software, ethical online services, and open hardware. I identify which needs each tool can and can't serve, and where the gaps are, where new code, hosting, integrations, and support, might be needed. Documenting what I find is, of course, essential to the role. Some of the places I currently do that:

P2P Foundation wiki
Disintermedia wiki on CoActivate (sadly CoA has been down for weeks and the maintainer probably has day job stuff on his hands)
