Do we need an online collaborative information gathering portal?

S Sicco Public Seen by 51

I think we could organize the information flow of De Nieuwe Universiteit in a better way. For example, I see a lot of confusion about things that have been said at General Assemblies. Or, somebody says that a certain thing has been said in the media, but then nobody can find the exact website with the news article.

How can we improve the information flow, so everybody knows what's going on?

I created a Hackfoldr http://tinyurl.com/DNUinfo. One of the main advantages is that we can use this as our main portal to link to other places where we gather information. For example, I've made and linked two Titanpad's in which people can takes notes on the General Assemblies of the past two days.

The Media Team can edit the structure of the Hackfoldr and add new Titanpad's or links, but everybody can help to edit the Titanpad's!

We should make use of Hackfoldr as our main information gathering portal Closed Mon 2 Mar 2015 12:04PM

See my post in the discussion. I propose to use this Hackfoldr: http://tinyurl.com/DNUinfo

I wasnt able to be there today, but have you also written down these instructions at the flip-over so people can make minutes as a group. And instruct encourage them to make notes/minutes in this shared pad

Of the many possibilities for portals and platforms, none are mutually exclusive with each other, so this proposal passing doesn't prohibit GitHub being used as well.

Does Hackfoldr have version control? It seems fairly important to have a saved history, for a variety of reasons. GitHub is designed for exactly this, and is excellent for several other reasons as well.

@cameronfinnkelly yes. The structure of the Hackfoldr is simply 4 columns in a Google Spreadsheet (which has version control) and the Titanpads also have version control. While I actively use and like Github, I prefer the Titanpads in this situation as they don't need registration, so anybody can start contributing, and they pose an even lower barrier for new users imho.

@sicco this is true, yeah :) If we do any serious coding, though, we should maintain a DNU GitHub as well. (This will be necessary for an idea I've had, about which I hope to tell you more soon.)
