New Remain Campaign being set up
This week, I have been involved in a number of conference calls and emails about a new Remain campaign being set up in anticipation of a referendum.
I won't bore you with all the machinations, but at the beginning of the week there appeared to be two competing "companies": one from Roland Rudd (current chair of PV and brother of Amber) and one from Stephen Dorrell (chair of European Movement). Encouragingly, both were proposing to have grassroots representation at Board level - either 2 or 3 members, depending on which project or email you're looking at.
Last night, there was a joint call with both Roland Rudd and Stephen Dorrell on the line. They had had very constructive talks earlier in the day and it looks like they will be able to come together and create ONE UNIFIED Remain campaign!
Full details of the structure are still to be finalised, but Roland Rudd in particular is very keen to have gender balance across the Board and strong representation from outside of the London bubble. They also both insist that the Chair should be female, but not a sitting MP.
Personally, I'm very encouraged by this. It's what I and many other group chairs have been asking for for a very long time. Once more details are finalised, I will obviously share them with you.

Brilliant news. And critical to use broad and diverse grassroots support so we are not hampered by the brexiters' 'remainer metropolitan elite' nonsense.

Great news. We cannot afford to have a split remain/PV campaign.
