These were some of the suggestions from the Setember - October submissions.
Please add and comment on these

Community Garden:
Need more news of what’s going on and how people can get involved

Expand the community orchard

Develop a community veggie garden (possible membership with
roster system)

Communal composting system

More food sharing opportunities
o
Weekly farmers market

Establish a new community garden on the Vogelmorn bowling
green

Extend orchard throughout the village – more fruit trees
Ecology and environmental sustainability

Increased pest control/weed control/concerted effort to get rid of gorse

Regeneration of native bush in Central Park

Encourage more planting; Kowhai to attract native birds, down Cleveland and Harrison St, Pohutukawa on Brooklyn Road

Bee keepers network

Ensure retention and protecting of green spaces when
developing in-fill housing

Shared energy network of PV cells, this should be extended to
all schools

Eco suburb; wind turbines, electric buses, houses that harness
the solar energy. A storm water system that protects our natural
waterways. Promote better use of rain water.

Community electricity scheme, adding to the one turbine
residents could buy shares

Public open spaces
Central outdoor space in Brooklyn village

Needs to be safe for children

Place to sit and eat lunch

Sunny square in the middle of the village where people can
come together

Bus turning circle uses the best space

Great for it to open out from the library
Improve outdoor play areas (could be part of square) –
adults activities;
pertanque
BBQ plate area
Dog running area
Use war memorial as a look out and point of interest

Rubbish
Annual inorganic rubbish collection
tax on plastic bags
reinstate community cleanup.

@chriswells1 I'm Julia from the Wellington City Council. The Kaka Project is mainly focused on community facilities and activities. We will be happy to look into your question regarding the future of the landfill. Can you provide an email for me to send this information too. My email is [email protected]

Paul Blaschke's call for a wider view of the Owhiro Stream catchment was inspiring and relevant to us all. I think that understanding where our stormwater and underground streams go helps us connect to our urban environment. I am keen to open up routes from the urban areas of Kingston and Mornington down to the stream below.

Evening @sophiejerram & all - its been organized by local Sam Bridgeman and as you say based on coffee and a yarn with the WCC person(s) wokring on the cycle network planning. A good turn out will help make an impression of enthusiasm and interest in improving the slog up to and the thrill down and around our hills! Specifically for the young and less confident cyclists.
