Are we abandoning Loomio?

There hasn't been any new discussion lately.
Has this experiment ended?

I vote we abandon Loomio.
We only attracted 5 members and I think our decisions can summarized as:
1 The LearnOSM translation system needs to be revised.
2 LearnOSM needs to be expanded.

Loomio itself is an interesting platform, but it feels a bit 'beta' yet. For instance the notification system is incomplete - you can only get daily digests of activity. There's no way to get immediate notifications as updates happen. This would significantly slow down discussions.

I've read through some of the developer's blog and it seems the notification system is being worked on, but there's no timetable for progress.

I suggest we move on to some other method of discussion & decision making and maybe revisit Loomio in 6 months or so to see what progress they've made.

Just to be clear, I think we do need some other channel for discussions and decisions than just the HOT mailing list.

Personally I think we should give it more of a try. We only attracted 5 people, but we only mentioned we were using it once. I think it would take more than the one mention to get a ton of people using it.

Perhaps having a little quickstart guide would help. For example I think having discussion here, instead of putting proposals forth first makes sense.

The problem can be that things get sidelined. If you read an email & don't consider the discussion on loomio will ever concern you, you won't go there to see what is happening.
Strangely enough it might work better if someone had an opposing view?
I'd be willing to try it again, but I didn't see any advantage for our particular last discussion.

What do the working groups or the board use to facilitate discussion and decision making? Is there a Communications committee/working group that looks at this kind of stuff?

I looked at the Hackpad for the upcoming Communications Working Group (CWG) and see they are focused on external communications. Fair enough. So, who works on internal communications? The Tech WG?

I hope we don't abandon it just yet ;)
