We've rewritten Loomio search from the ground up

10 days ago, someone emailed Loomio support with the following feedback about our search function. Here's what they said:

• Sometimes when we search by keyword some of the very obvious posts don’t come up on the list

• It isn’t possible to order the list by date. This would be very useful

• It isn’t possible to search by the person who created the post, again this would often be useful

• Generally, it isn’t possible to combine searches. For example, I might want to search by a combination of Tag and the person who created the post, or keyword and Tag to have a more focused outcome

That's just about as clear as it can get! So we rewrote search with the intention of fixing every one of these issues.

10 days later, the new search feature is deployed.

• If you search for something that exists, it will find it!

• You can sort the results by 'newest', 'oldest' or 'best match'

• You can include the author name with your search terms to narrow the scope of the results

• You can combine the search with a tag to narrow the results down

• You can filter by type "Thread", "Comment", "Poll", "Vote" etc

• If your search matches a comment, it will take you to the comment within the thread.

• You can search from anywhere in the app - the 🔍 icon is in the top right of every screen
