Loomio

Two Press Release Drafts I Created

DH Daniel Hong Public Seen by 18

I written two Press Release Drafts that we can use. A. is a general release for news sources, entertainment, etc. B. is a release with a solicitation for volunteering, so it's aimed for Occupy sympathizers. (grassroots groups, alternative media, etc.)

Check both of them out at TitanPad! Please add your name when editing!

there are folks actively working who haven't migrated to loomio.

Thank God they are somewhere.

Umm, Justin English is a new language for me.
Let me see if I understand you,
A lot of general agreement work is helping map work locations?
And mapping makes the Occupations louder?
Is that what you are saying?

The rest I understand, tools come and go. I wish the best for the Loomio team. They achieved their crowdfunding goal , which was good. If they can get established and some good roots, they will prolly stay around . I quit getting attached to new tools long ago.
If they get bought out by Yahoo, I'll ditch. That simple.

So I feel like we are getting away from the focus of this discussion which is the press release - deciding on the choice of ones on titan pad, editing or adding there.

The goal was to have a temp check here before last night's call and decide to get the thing out.

[A discussion about process for collaboration, voting and approving "Official" Media: agreed to:

Collaborative work to be completed on Titan Pad. Work to end by Monday at 4, Posted to Loomio for voting 4:30 p.m. (the goal is to have 48 hours of voting open on Loomio before the Wednesday conference call) with a final consent by the Visioning Group.

@sallyg maybe we do need to upload them here, each one it's own proposal or perhaps discussion.

I'm finding I don't like that you can't have multiple proposals on one discussion (or counter proposals or friendly amendments)

it'd be really good if we didn't leave long periods up for the proposals when we are deciding on timely things that have already had some discussion, albeit not loomio.

since this criteria has already been met, it might be time to close this proposal @justin2

develop a collaborative process with set deadlines for Press Release Production (ie using online pads to create a unique weekly version to be pushed out) of Nat Gat Event.

the weekly part can be developed more - seems the general consensus is fewer press releases (initial or big announcements), and newswire posts should go out weekly or more often - whenever a wg has news.

Can we survey local Occupy groups everywhere in the next week or two and get a sense of what battles and campaigns are happening now in different Occupy groups; what victories and milestones, large or small, have happened recently; and, without revealing spoilers, what goals and ideas we have for the coming year?

This would definitely help our press release reflect Occupy's bright future and active, evolving present, while defying media pundits' premature obituary for our movement without simply adding the word “not”.

I posted something from an Alabama Occupy (Birmingham, maybe?) to the NatGat planning page on Facebook during the outreach party; more of that would help us to figure out who is doing what (and I am tired of posting 2 or 3 times: here, e-mail, Facebook, etc.)

+1 How about collecting these stories on a titanpad so they can be found and referred to in the future. I don't know if other subgroups are writing report backs, but media and outreach can put the stories we collect in the weekly report back that can be posted on all the platforms.it'll save Organizer's time and organize the stories for future use

Folks. there is a proposal on the table.

We can continue discussion on other points once we spread the word & empower this group.

I am confused by the creation of these stirring committees -- are they different than a Media and Outreach and Programming groups already formed and working?

SG

Sally G Tue 29 Apr 2014 3:48PM

Justin defined the term as the equivalent of a steering committee, but in a horizontal fashion. No, I do not see a difference; I think he is just trying to get more people on each @justin2, is that right?

J

Justin Tue 29 Apr 2014 3:58PM

sort of, there will be overlap.

this allows the new folks to meet the existing stakeholders and feed into those groups as needed.

Stirring Committees are project based, not horizontally themed or area of focus typically. It's moving a organizing group into the work.

Think of a pot of stone soup.. We all add to the mix.

Traditional Themed/ Organizing groups would request Veggie Soup & then make sure it happens...

"What kind of an operation are you running over there?"

I saw that question twice this week - once from a right wing tweeter who was going to try to talk his buddy out of coming once from a potential presenter.

That's a question the Press Release should answer. Everyone wants to know who is "behind" social movements and who are the "sponsors"? And "Where will they go to the bathroom?"

WE the People are the ones behind it. Let's emphasize our geographical diversity and how we working across 5 time zones on Occupy Sydney's invention "Loomio".

Explain Crowd funding and contributions and wrote out the name of the fiscal sponsor Alliance for Global Justice
