1/8/18: Housing Data Hackathon Planning Meeting
Check out Meetup hosted by Open Government MeetUp:
Housing Data Hackathon Planning Meeting
http://meetu.ps/3h0hNp
Event description looks like it could potentially align with RE2020’s goal of cohosting / participating in events quarterly before the National Association of Realtors hosts their annual convention in Boston, Nov. 2-5, 2018.
More specifically, look forward to exploring collaboration for the 25th Anniversary of the Consumer Revolution in Real Estate, April 2018. See agenda from that event in 1993 (pre-internet!) on this blog post five years ago on the 20th Anniversary:
Consumer Revolution in Real Estate? Nader was right
EXCERPT from Nader speech in 1993:
“…we’ve all seen intervals in industries when there are reform movements and then, about ten, twenty years later, it’s like, where did it go? Where in the world did it go?”

Rona, Thanks for your interest. I sent you an invite to join RE2020,which presumably will allow you to access all of the subsections and post your own contents, Idea starters, etc.
Loomio is optimized for group decision-making, see options currently available under decision tools header in right column.

Was impressed by comments by another gentlemen in the room with considerable housing expertise and a regional perspective. Was his name Wade? Can you invite him to join this thread, or can I contact him privately? The stats he quoted are overwhelming,

Hi Bill. I am not interested in the RE2020. I am working with local activists on a local project. I don't have the energy to take on big housing and participate in Zillow hackathon. I don't know the guy you are talking about, but Stephanie Hirsch, who convened the meeting, can tell you.

Thanks for clarifying your interest. Using the word "LOCAL" twice in the same sentence helps explain the tension in the room between those focusing on problems in Somerville vs others addressing regional/systemic problems in the real estate ecosystem. I learned about the gathering from an Open Government MeetUp that did not use the words local or Somerville, see:
My hope is that there is synergy between local and regional housing advocates/real estate consumer advocates; and will continue to work towards that goal.

It was inspiring to see so much grassroots hacker energy and housing expertise at tonight's meetup. Sounds like organizers will pursue a hackathon focused on specific needs/goals in Somerville, which leaves room for a more open-ended series of unconferences.
