Getting people involved in the project
How should we get people involved?

Do you still want us to invite people? I know one other person who might be interested.

Absolutely! Please invite anyone you think may be interested in taking part.

Things have gone quiet here, so I have been thinking about how to give the project a boost to get things going. I’m going to create a proposal to try to decide how to move forwards… Nobody ever said running an Open Animal Calendar Project was going to be easy!
The question is: Should we go fully public with this project, and post it in places like Facebook and on public forums (Reddit etc)... or should we grow organically by way of personal invitation?
Going public means we would probably attract more people to get involved, but it also has the potential to go completely off-track, or for trolls to join in. Growing organically means things could take shape a bit more naturally, but it does involve people actively inviting other people they know who might like to get involved.
Please share your thoughts… The future of the project depends on it!

We should post open invitations to this project on Facebook / Reddit / Craigslist Closed Sat 10 Sep 2016 12:02PM
Do you think we should post about this project openly on public forums like Facebook, Reddit and Craigslist inviting anyone to join in? If so, give it a thumbs up! If you think we should grow organically and invite people to join in via personal invitation, then give it a thumbs down. Please vote!!!

As I write this, I'm the only person in this group. I'm trying to get it to a stage where it makes enough sense that people will "get it" when they see it for the first time. Once I've done that, I'm planning to invite about 10 people that I know to get involved. I actually have no idea what sort of reaction it will get!
The thinking is to then ask each person involved to invite a few more people and to see how it grows.
I have also considered posting a general invite to public forums (maybe reddit or craigslist) to attract more diverse people outside of my own circles, but I think I'll save that for a bit later once there are hopefully a few people here already.
