Free Class/Lab-room Furniture - still available (ends this weekend) at Bernard College
Interesting trip and interesting news.
There is some interesting news when it comes to Bernard College giving away some of its furniture.
They are giving away some lab workstations for individual use. I never seen that before (not pictured here).
At least one of the programable internally lit plant incubators was not thrown out. It’s somewhere in storage. We might have to do some running around to get it later. Too soon to celebrate.
I don't know if they are writing somethings off to build a new lab but this bit of furniture can be paired up against one another or against the walls. it was being dismantled today.
A small to medium cell incubators available. One is rusty on the outside but looks like it could be working. smaller one has a single pane glass isothermal incubator.
There are some miniature fridges that look like they may work per project laying around (not pictured).
I took some standard weights and a set of lenses for microscopes. look like antiques. I don't know if they are one size fits all. I left the microscope itself. It was heavy for me to haul alone. Everything is home for now.
There are hood like workstations for working with plant, fungal, and general molecular biology use, on a hinge. Labconco, tissue culture enclosure is available. A ton of glass and plasticware is available, disposables and washables.
There are wash and drying racks.
There are some pipette tips and glass pipettes. Glass bottles and polypropylene caps.
An issue arises as to when to go and claim it, how to transport it, where to put consumable items, and when to pull consumables from storage.
There are some Earth and Environmental science soil test supplies. I don't know about everyone else since COVID closure but I thought Craig might find it interesting. There are also physics and geology departments being emptied. I haven't looked inside.
I might go again tomorrow. Does anyone want to join me? If not you may call The Barnard Sustainability Team tomorrow. I don't know if they'll be there to answer it.

I will be driving into New York later today and also tomorrow with my station wagon. I could potentially pick up stuff but I am a bit confused. The person I dealt with had a different name and did not work on weekends. Please let me know if we can really pick stuff up. It's a long way in traffic from BwoB to Barnard.

@Ellen Jorgensen turns out today was not a good day for it, tomorrow is. I will see you tomorrow.
Updates
Our meeting date and time are now: this Sunday the 14th at 11 am.
Ellen is coming by car. She has to leave by 12 or so. We have not worked out any details of if anyone wants to stick around afterwards.
Our meeting place is: 119th and Claremont ave. It is between 120th and 116th. The street doesn’t interrupt. It can be confusing if you are not looking for a street sign in the middle of the college block.
If anyone is coming by train: 116th street on the red line, (1) local is best bet.
Our contact’s name is Leslie.
