Online forest garden spreadsheet

JR Jake Rayson Public Seen by 93

Together with Olly Boon and Chris Day, I helped make an online and sortable spreadsheet of all the plants in Martin Crawford's book 'Creating a Forest Garden'.

You can view the spreadsheet here: https://bit.ly/forest-garden-spreadsheet

Instructions on how to sort are here: https://youtu.be/vo-IJlHf5hM

Hi Tomas, please feel free to share, copy and alter your copies 🙂. I've added a copyright notice in the notes in the common name column, basically an open culture license https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

The authors are myself, Olly Boon & Chris Day, data from Plants For A Future, plant list from Martin Crawford's book

Jake and Jo, would it be ok to share the spreadsheet with people on my current online forest garden course? I'll of course ccredit you as the originators.

Thanks, Tomas

Feel free to copy the spreadsheet (you can either download it or duplicate it with a Google account) and add propagation notes. I won't add notes to the spreadsheet as I want to keep it as slim as it is (and it already takes a minute or so to load up on my ancient computer!)

This is all really useful. I very much like Jo's notes on propagation. Might we between us add a column on propagation to the SPreadsheet?

Just had a thought, I use a template Google spreadsheet for all my gardening jobs, please feel free to copy, adapt, use it if anyone wants https://bit.ly/template-plants

Hi Jo, that's great, really glad you're finding it useful.

Must add that it was a joint effort as well, Olly Boon and Chris Day helped (a bit!)😆 oh, and that other chap wrote that book…

Thanks for plant list. I love a good plant list 😁.

Oh, I included a link to a downloadable version I also have on my website, might be of interest

Jake, this is really fantastic. Well done for all the hard work that's gone into it. I can't remember if I've shared the rather out of date list from Edible Landscapes with you - https://ediblelandscapeslondon.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/ELL_PlantList_OrderedByGenus_2020.xlsx but might have some other helpful info. I've already shared your spreadsheet with a few colleagues at The Orchard Project and will share with a peri-urban farming group I'm on.
