New location needed for the Ouishare Summit

RC Ruxandra Creosteanu Public Seen by 108

Dear all, as you may know, for personal reasons, I can not organize the Ouishare Summit in Romania any more. Therefore we need a new location for the Summit for the dates of the 15th to the 18th of September.
With @francesca we were thinking, it would be maybe nice to organize it in Munich (it would be in the same time with the Oktoberfest, so it might be fun). Who's motivated?

_\m/ let's keep in mind that if overlapped with Octoberfest there may be a non trivial price surge @francesca

Date-wise, there is also the International Workshop on the Sharing Economy in Southampton (Manchester), UK on Sept. 15-16.

Dare I suggest we look at Amsterdam and all go to this at the same time? http://peervalueconf.eu/ ? (Of course this suggestion is a bit nuts) ;-)

Hi guys and tagging in @thomasdonnebrink an @max22 here too! We have been quiet often at the Synergyhub in Rotterdam this week together with friends of mine and Thorsten Wiesmann. It's pretty evolving! And has an amazing new tool for building holocratic groups / holons on intention which is pretty revolutionary. www.synergyhub.nl

We spoke to Meesteren, the development organization, we might be very well able to do the summit in Rotterdam. Now.. about organizing time: could this be light? And flexible? Or teamed up? And.. would be nice to do it around that time Bernie! I'll speak to Meesteren and Noomap / Synergyhub ppl again on Friday.

We could also contribute to a new co-living emerging and practice some OuiShare structures for collaboration to tune / set the trend and help these groups in this emerging concept. Could be very interesting and interactive.

A fablab / next silicon valley in small version is arising also in Rotterdam as well you could join urban sports for fun. All available within the reach of one tram line next door.

Sleeping places could probably be arranged in the building. Thomas said we'd probably be with around 40.. ;-)

How does this sound?

Hi guys,

sorry for a bit of radio silence. We were (and still are) looking for possibilities to hold the summit around Munich. As @simonecicero correctly said, that weekend is also start of Octoberfest which means that basically everything in the city is already booked / ridicuosly priced.
We now are negotiating with the owner of a fairy-tale castle close to Munich looking at core days 15 - 17 September or 16 - 18 (which would mean +1 day before and after for travelling). This of course would also allow people interested to visit Octoberfest after (@francesca ;) )
Sorry to not be able to give you a definite "yes!" right now but we hope to do so this week.

Hugs,
David

Hi there,

after days of thinking back & forth and negotiating with potential place owners unfortunately we came to the conclusion that it is not possible to host the summit during that time in / around Munich for a reasonable price at a nice location.

Still we think that it would be a nice idea to have you guys around here for a summit, so we are quite happy to have you here e.g. next year. Another possibility to consider maybe would be also to change the dates of this summit to have it a bit later - 2 months before + Octoberfest was just a bit too challenging ;)

What do you think?

F

Francesca Tue 19 Jul 2016 9:12AM

I think it would be a good idea to do it at a later date in October, since in any case, with the summer, it will get too difficult to organize something this quickly!

At Synergy Hub we might have a great leap by making the logistics easier. ;-) That is when we can sleep and work there. There is plenty of m2 available for working. About showers and rooms to sleep.. that is a question, but looks like a possibility and is confirmed at first stage exploration by the foundation governing the building prior to detailing questions already. @thomasdonnebrink

hi guys, I guess we need one of the team (either Munich or Amsterdam) to make a proposal with some dates in this loomio post, so that people can tell if they're motivated or not ? :-) cc @amandajansen @davidwe

Hi all! I am sorry for aswering so late! I have been working around Synergy Hub intensely and suggesting several times to do the summit there. There is a big event coming up in October, so logistics are a daily discussion. With how many might we be this time? It seems hosting over 30 people might cause difficulties and during October it might be impossible. The discussion is still going on about how many the could host.. and not clear. As a hackspace and small village it's pretty emergent.

AJ

Amanda Jansen Wed 31 Aug 2016 6:56AM

And this might be Rotterdam @maud1 ;-)

M

Maud Wed 31 Aug 2016 7:56AM

How many is always hard to evaluate @amandajansen but average is 30 to 50 people... if there is enough anticipation of the dates!

Hello guys, I have a proposal: why don't we 'skip' this summit and move on to the next one, or at least plan for one in early 2017? October is tomorrow, november as well, and december .... well is feasible but still very close.

I have the impression that we will not have many people this fall that will be available (my own calendar is super full already, I really cannot be sure I will be in this time again) so ... why don't we start to plan 5-6 months ago and block a cool date in a nice location that everyone can attend? Just an idea :)

M

Maud Wed 31 Aug 2016 7:29PM

I support this idea, organizing a global summit before the end of the year sounds to me quite difficult by now! Let's anticipate winter 2017!

AJ

Amanda Jansen Wed 31 Aug 2016 7:40PM

I can find myself well in the idea @benjamintincq First when no huge event was planned OuiShare was super welcome. And still is in the Synergy Hub. But logistics are a bit tight now. Possibly we can offer much more experience and space from an easier point in time. As well that it is good to rest and have a moment of silence I heard now.. running forward to acceleration of global change and impact expected from October. ;-) Not to mystify it, but there will be a huge event on this in Rotterdam. And silence is seriously a part of the program in this.

Ok with me, maybe I can welcome the summit in our farm if we have finalized the deal before 2017 ;-)

@benjamintincq ´s proposal makes sense to me. As said, Munich team is happy to host next summer. If similar dates are expected (e.g. for some to celebrate Octoberfest) we would need to make the booking in time though to get a nice location & prices (for which we already have a nice list of venues ;) )

I would also like to suggest Porto/Lisbon as a location for the next Global Summit. I have experience organising events in both locations and I can easily activate contacts with potential partners, venues and accommodation. Let me know if you want to discuss this!

Lisbon would be great. It almost happened last winter (finally in Badajoz). Joao of Lost in Lisbon had make us a very good offer. ping me if you need an introduction. x

I actually know João very well :) We are in touch about having a Ouishare Summit in Lisbon. :) Thank you!

SC

Simone Cicero Tue 20 Sep 2016 8:05AM

I also +1 Lisbon. But in general I would like also to stress the point that this is probably going to be an important global summit because of how everything has changed lately so if @inessilva wants to move on I think we should go on. I understand there's also one candidate in the netherlands @amandajansen and potentially munich still there. Why don't we make a deadline for submitting a 2 pager proposal answering on the key issues such as: TEAM / BUDGET / LOGISTICS and then we vote?

F

Francesca Tue 20 Sep 2016 8:18AM

Since it's been a while that we've been saying should try to define dates for the next 2-3 summits in advance, this seems like a great opportunity to do so!

And we've also been aiming to have winter summits in warmer countries, summer summits in colder ones. So I would propose:

  • do the next summit in Lisbon, in Winter
  • do the summer summit in Munich or Rotterdam.
  • For the one after that, Asmaa had always mentioned Morocco could be an option!
  • We could do one again in France at some point, since it's been over 4 years.

I like Simone's idea about teams submitting proposals (this is actually something we wanted to do in the past but we never had more than one team willing to organize one).

In my opinion and based on past experience, the most important criteria is team: you need at 3 people who are very enaged on-site and willing to take responsibility for organizing the event, otherwise it may not be realistic.

@davidwe @amandajansen @inessilva how do you feel about submitting a 1-pager that roughly outlines what you would like to do and your resources?

Inês Silva Tue 20 Sep 2016 9:22AM

Sounds great to me @francesca. Can we schedule a skype call, so I can have a better idea of what you are looking for?

SC

Simone Cicero Tue 20 Sep 2016 10:04AM

I actually made a poll to Telegram to see what is people more focused about. I think we can work out here an essential one pager layout
