Approve Preston Digital Foundation's application to join CoTech
Mark Porter got in touch, having been "talked into it by Matt Crowe at Outlandish" (his words) 馃槅
About PDF (I know, amazing!):
"We are a Digital Worker-owned co-operative operating out of the University of Central Lancashire, the first UNI-Coop we believe.
The Preston Digital Foundation specialises in the Web Site and App design and development, AR / VR, Media production (inc. Drones) and other relevant digital services. We are B2B and service the University and the Local Digital industry currently, but with a CoTech membership, who knows!?
Directors are all University staff currently, with graduate and undergraduate students making up the membership and working on paid projects. We are an above living wage employer, all members are employees. The student membership has limited voting rights, due to the fluctuating membership, but have a representative with a vote for each 'cohort'.
Personally I'm also a director of the Preston Co-operative Development Network,so very committed to developing co-ops locally and community wealth building."
Attached are also the articles of association for a company limited by guarantee and having reviewed they look to be those of a worker co-op (but I am no expert).
I will leave this open for questions for a week before turning into a proposal (can;'t remember the exact process and it's Friday so going to the wiki is bad for my mental health).

I'd be interested to hear a bit more about the actual control and ownership given to the students. If it's them who are doing the bulk of the work. I can't see an attachment here - am I missing something?

Thanks, Polly, I have asked Mark to clarify this.

I definitely see the PDF of their articles but then I uploaded it!

This is Mark's reply to Polly's question about how much control / ownership the students have:
"Each student group gets one vote if they are working with ThePDF as part of their course.
They have a level of representation that allows for influence, but not control by merit of large numbers.
They can then transition into associate members, then to full membership on an individual basis, similar to how outlandish work."

We're happy to accept if they are considered to be worker owned or as close to that as possible under the circumstances 鉂わ笍
