Domain renewal - Proposals
Hi all,
In the light of what happened overnight (for those in the EU, at least!) I'd like to evaluate whether it makes sense for us to either:
- set up a recurring payment to renew the domain
- reserve it for N years right away

Having done registrations before through IoO, I can attest it doesn't require much other than us vouching. But I bet we could do it on our own too.

I would say until we settle on an actual cooperative structure -- we are getting close -- we should not do it on our own. It seems important to preserve the integrity of the domain name. Or am I just being pedantic?

I would argue that Social.coop
already does have a very cooperative structure, as articulated in
our bylaws. It will surely change, but I see no way in which the
current form does not constitute a cooperative enterprise—even
more so, in fact, than IoO.

Fair enough, I have no interest in arguing against social.coop's cooperative character. So, who can put this in motion?

I have asked @enric2 to change the "administrative contact" of the domain, which at least will give us full admin rights in Gandi's dashboard, and allow us to renew it ourselves next time.

Yes, this decision does feel like a prerequisite. As out IoO rep, @mattnoyes would you be able to get a sense of what doing it through them would look like?
