Confirm funding for a second Internet cable

In 2013, the Government earmarked a $13 million contribution for building a second underwater Internet connection cable. Does the Government need to make a solid confirmation of funding for a second Internet cable?

We support and encourage the Government's anchor tenancy of the trans-Pacific Hawaiki data communications cable and strongly urge the project to commence as soon as possible, in order to begin to transition to a digital-centric economy. Closed Sat 6 Sep 2014 12:06AM

I think the Government should fully support the Hawaiki Cable project and Tasman Global Access link because NZ needs as much bandwidth and Internet connectivity as possible if we are to foster a digitally innovative economy.
