Kia ora rā tātau - been a [months long] minute, but the darker days of winter are coming and I for one am very keen to hear and collaborate a bit more on the ideas we planted towards the end of last year... posters, coordinated workshops or movie nights etc...lots of options out there! Food insecurity is on the up, as are storm-impacted prices and (ironically) climate do-nothing-but-accept-doomism. As people experimenting here we have a big role to help encourage more folks to both connect with our earth and challenge the scarcity-riddled dictates of industrial ag and the big ol supermarket dupopoly... while also supporting each other to stay with this work!
So, if people are keen for check-in/reconnection, why don't we aim for a call one evening next week. To get the ball rolling, I'm going to suggest Wed 5 April at 7-8pm. Suggestions otherwise welcome; hope this finds you all well :)

Kia ora Dan, Thanks for picking this back up. I’ll be on the road on the 5th sorry, but don’t let that stop you.
Could do the though 4th I think.

I would be happy to attend online but I have another hui to attend on April. Feel free to go ahead if 5 April works for everyone. Nga mihi maioha

Looks like 6th April at 7pm works for most! Zoom link here: https://auckland.zoom.us/j/92650838118
Note, people who didn't vote are still most welcome to show up. Equally, if like Huia you're wondering what this is and not interested, let us know and I can remove you from the group :)
Realise the above post suggesting one date is a terrible way to organise online. Sorry for that. Attempt here at proposing a few options to see if we can't get a better consensus about when to meet :)
Note that there are 3 options next week, then one fallback option (which mirrors what we were doing last year, i.e., the third thursday of every month). Again, welcome to suggest something different in the comments.

Hi Dan,
Sorry I've been very slow to engage here. It's been a strange period and I still haven't even managed a full 'Introduction' in this space! I didn't get around to voting, but I can't do the 6th unfortunately as I'm First Aid training. Hope it goes well and hopefully I can join the next one!

Seems like something else has won your attention @Dan K ! Try again in a week or two?
Dan K Thu 6 Apr 2023 7:43AM
@Naomi Joy Smith aroha mai! totally got pulled away - having one of those hard parental days and thought i could at least open the zoom but only getting here now.... perhaps reflective of where things are at but sincere apologies for anyone who made a better effort to show up than me; indeed let's try again soon x

Life happens, especially as a young parent, so all good! Though I'm not in a position to offer this myself, it would be great to share the responsibility & access to a zoom to create some resilience. Perhaps something to work towards if there aren't folks available to put their hands up right now.
In the meantime, perhaps we could decide on a jitsi URL for the next call, so meetings can take place without a host? The longer and more specific the URL, the more secure it would be.
Dan K Wed 12 Apr 2023 9:22PM
@Naomi Joy Smith thanks for this suggestion. Agree zoom is a limitation! My access is through uni, but as we've seen, back ups are crucial. I'm certainly down for a jitsi URL, but have never heard about them before. Are they easy to set up?
Clay Joy Smith Mon 17 Apr 2023 6:42AM
Hey @Dan K āe there's effectively no setup. If we decided the meeting link would be e.g. /aotearoadirtnerdsarehavingahui then all anyone would have to do is type the jitsi url (meet.jit.si) followed by that matching slug - no one needs to create an account to register the room or anything.

Rebecca and I have a South Coast Environment Society Committee meeting tonight so won't be able to make it. Very interested to hear what comes out of the OFNZ conversation Jenny!
