Books offering thoughtful critique of the news media and discussing solutions
I was just pointed at a book on journalism that looks good, 'Fraudcast News' by former Reuters correspondent Patrick Chalmers, which is available for free download. In a talk linked on the site, Chalmers refers to a number of other books on similar subjects, including 'We the Media' by Dan Gillmore, which can also be read online, 'Flat Earth News' by Nick Davies, and the classic 'Manufacturing of Consent' by Chomsky and Herman. Can anyone recommend any other useful books about news media and citizen journalism?

Thanks for this pointer to "Fraudcast News". Many of us know the MSM has been taken over by those that wish to rule the entire world, not just the west. Will spread this link around.

I like philosopher Alain de Botton's The News: A User's Manual (2014). Used it in my contribution to a forthcoming book called Reimagining Journalism.
