COVID-19 Thread
Topic: Jeder Institute Risk Jedi 'COVID-19'
Dear fellow members,
It was recommended today that due to the potential severity of significant harm from COVID-19 (Corona Virus) that
all Jeder Institute members be invited to gather at the below mentioned Risk Jedi to discuss implications to the people we support, our families and loved ones, our work, finances, health etc.
Dee, Meredith, Lynn and Michelle have worked swiftly to produce some great guidelines already. Please check them out on our Shared DRIVE: RISK JEDI FOLDER.
The Jedi meetings will occur weekly every Monday over the next four weeks. Hopefully we’ll go back to business as usual after that! 😊.
Personally, I’m finding myself with a survivalist mindset more and more often. It’s gotta be all those hours I spent playing Zombie Apocalypse video games with Mile! 😊
It is a critical time for making many important decisions, for community gathering and strengthening.
Please join us. See you there.
Aleks

Hi everyone,
We're on again on Monday 7-9 pm. Please let me know if there is anything you'd like to add to the flow.
In this thread (above) are the links to previous harvests and current action plans.
Please join us. Meredith will remind us of the dress-code. M?...

Thanks Yvonne, Michelle and Dee for replying with your apologies. I'm here on Zoom atm, just in case someone wants to chat, debrief, ask questions (me included). Probably a good thing that nobody needs the meeting. Its 7.25 and I'm signing out - a little relieved but more so disappointed in myself for being here in the first place. Not an isolated thought btw. I've been wondering about Michelle's question for the past 12 months.
I'm feeling frustrated enough that I could easily write a 2500 word paper on Jeder, belonging, stronger together, collaboration, self management. But then a self centered thought - "just mind your own business Aleks and let others choose their own path", convinces me to apply an apathetic mindset! I'm off to be with my little clan having dinner and lighting a fire in the back yard. Later

Dee Brooks Tue 14 Apr 2020 3:48AM
Hi Aleks,
Sorry to hear you are feeling this frustration alone! I think the space you have held for 4 consecutive weeks has been amazing! Maybe we could have a summary of what's happened for those who haven't been to any or all of them? Maybe this will serve your need to write a paper but also give other members a run-down on what they've missed?
Just an idea?
It might also be that after a month of pretty intense times for people, we are settling in a bit - how do we keep this on top?
Hope your backyard fire was nurturing!
Dee...

Hey @Aleks Jovanovic thank you so much for holding this space so beautifully. Im sorry i didnt make the meeting I have not stopped for weeks now and Im feeling the stretch. I had some email issues which meant i didnt have any emails for 6 days and have only just got them back thanks to Chris IT guru!
I'm sorry to hear of your frustrations and i do feel you. Sending virtual hugs.
I hope your family fire & dinner was soul enriching.
Aleks Jovanovic Tue 14 Apr 2020 9:21AM
Dear Dee and Meredith, Thanks for your kind words. Crazy days indeed. I must admit that my tone was a little disturbing (a reflection of my overall feelings yesterday). I may still write that paper Dee, give me a few months :). I'm very privileged to be working with Jeder - alongside so many strong, wise and beautiful people. Onwards and upwards from here. Good to great!

Dee Brooks Tue 14 Apr 2020 8:59PM
Aleks, as I said, I love your authenticity - I would rather read your frustration than know you sat alone with it - same for any member!
I would also be happy to be your shadow-editor on your paper! Haha!
Francisco de Paula Tue 14 Apr 2020 10:29PM
Hey Aleks,
I hope all is well. Staying safe and well with extra hand washing.
I'm disappointed that I didn't join you because of breakdown in communication unfortunately. I texted you to check if the meeting was going to go ahead. You posted on loomio that the meeting was going ahead. I didnt check the loomio and I didn't get a response to my text. I assumed that it was not on given it was a public holiday.
Communication communication system. How I would love to have the 365 office operating system to improve communication to some degree.
We may need to consider the many communication platforms that we use.
You are doing a great job in leading us to be and keep safe during this difficult time.
Is it still on for next three Monday?
Once again I'm sorry for the missed opportunity and thanks in advance for the time ahead.
Aleks Jovanovic Tue 14 Apr 2020 10:34PM
Thanks Fran.
I appreciate the message.
Yes, we’re on for the next three Monday’s- same time / zoom ID.
Yes we need to find ways to improve engagement.
I don’t doubt your commitment at all. Good to have you nearby.
Have a nice day! 😊

Hi Aleks - like the above I'm sorry that others haven't taken the opportunity to check-in with this very important topic in these really bizarre times. I have checked out from a few things at the moment while I try to re-group my energy and focus, but I will be back! Thank you for being so passionate and effective in managing this area - you do it well. Your frustrations need to be aired as others are also feeling this - something we as an organisation need to address and find resolutions to that overcome these situations. All in good time :)

Hi all,
Please accept my sincerest apologies. I have to admit the Public Holiday threw me. Sorry I'm slow on the uptake does this mean Monday April 20th, 27th & May The Force (4th) not every four weeks? And definitely not the 4th Monday of the month.

Margaret Henville Sun 19 Apr 2020 12:17AM
Opps this is the COVID Thread not our Risk Jedi. Forget the above.

Hi everyone,
We will have a special edition of the COVID-19 Risk-Jedi this coming Monday (4/5/20 at 7.00 PM). The theme for the Jedi will be RISK-GAMBILNG-PROBABILITY and CHANCE. Check out this short YouTube video: https://youtu.be/QpfMwA0z_1Y and tell us what your thoughts are? Have a go 'spinners'. What is the probability that I will get more than 3 replies to this post? I've worked out that it's less than 4%. Prove me wrong! 🙂
Finally, I'd like to thank Mark for designing the super impressive LAS VEGAS poster for our permanent Risk-Jedi.🙂

Michaela Kennedy Sun 3 May 2020 1:01AM
I would go to 3, love the poster. See you Monday. Great way to make it fun guys.

Dee Brooks Sun 3 May 2020 4:19AM
It reminds me of Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben's apparatus which basically says, we are all "funnelled" into being/doing certain things, even when we are sure we make an original decision!

Michelle Dunscombe Sun 3 May 2020 5:19AM
See you Monday night :)
Yvonne Sun 3 May 2020 7:58AM
That poster is so cool and the You Tube clips too....not sure the Santa in the chimney , though..hohoho...I lodge my apologies for Monday night...I have Toastmasters at that time
Jason Emmins Mon 4 May 2020 9:01AM
Lol- what would happen if they went against the probable outcome/decision (i.e. instead of going down three- going down somewhere else)? Would things be different? Challenge the status quo stuff.
Aleks Jovanovic Tue 5 May 2020 4:49AM
A BIG THANK YOU to all the members that participated in the COVID-19 Risk Jedi Thread and Monday night Zoom meetings. Thanks Brett for doing a great job with the harvests. Last meeting's harvest attached here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1t3SB8iMEc4usne_OFn6WYRgB6g_stdk9

Aleks Jovanovic Thu 6 May 2021 5:23AM
Dear members especially those that are Sydney-based,
As I am sure you know, there is one current case of community transmission of COVID -19 in Sydney.
NSW Health has also advised that fragments of the virus were also found in the Marrickville sewerage network, which services about 42,000 people.
The catchment takes sewage from the inner west suburbs of Dulwich Hill, Marrickville, Summer Hill, Lewisham, Ashfield, Haberfield, Petersham, Lilyfield and Leichhardt.
Residents in these areas have been urged to monitor for symptoms and to get tested if feeling unwell.
Please take all the recommended precautions if you have symptoms. Get tested for COVID -19 and self isolate until you have a negative test result. Most test results are available within 24 hours.
Given the latest cases of community transmission and updated health advice from the Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant, COVID-19 restrictions will be temporarily tightened across Greater Sydney.
The following link has further details: https://www.nsw.gov.au/media-releases/covid-19-restrictions-update-6-may

Hi Folks,
We don’t like to mention the ‘C’ word I’m just checking in on how people are coping with the new lockdown and Covid stresses. The Risk Jedi would like to reach out to you all and offer support to anyone who would like it.
How is this lockdown effecting you? Is it different this time around, particularly when we thought it would only be a week? Do you have plenty of supplies or would you like an emergency relief package of toilet paper?
Has anyone created their own Tik Tok channel yet? Have you or any of your participants created Covid homemade haircuts or baked any sour dough this time around?
On a serious note, is there anything we can do to support our Jederites during the coming weeks.
As part of our caring we would you like to start a Jeder check-in call tree? Lisa & I are happy to get this off the ground. Please let us know if you would like to join in?

Dee Brooks Mon 7 Jun 2021 10:24AM
What a lovely offer! It's very different for me, this time!
I'm prepared, relaxed and just going with the flow - no stress or anxiety or sleepless nights this time!

Margaret Henville Mon 7 Jun 2021 10:33AM
I'm pleased to hear that Dee and maybe because more and more people are having their shots they are feeling better about too.

Dee Brooks Mon 7 Jun 2021 10:44AM
I agree, Marg! The most common thought on my mind this time is how I can dodge the borders and keep working! Haha!

Michaela Kennedy Mon 14 Jun 2021 5:27AM
All good here, thanks for these thoughts and got some giggles out of it too. Doing well here, no COVID on the Sunny State - where I am. No restrictions either but still loving working from home and doing most all of my work online. Hope everyone else is ok?
Deleted account Tue 15 Jun 2021 1:29AM
That's a beautiful offer Marg. We are ok up here in our Northern NSW bubble thankfully. Im happy to have a chat if anyone needs it! x
