Need for more treasureres
I want to apologize for charging forward so bluntly with the previous proposal.
There is a need for a second (and preferably a bit more) treasurers on OpenCollective so that the funds remain available. The only action they can perform is approve requests for the funds and add others to the OpenCollective team.

@fabianhjr Sorry I'd been meaning to create this Finance Tech Ops Team proposal for a while. We can still move to give temp access to Open Collective to @matthewcropp or other if we think there is a risk that @ntnsndr would be unavailable in the event an expenditure is required before this proposal passes through FWG and full group.
Modification suggestions welcomed.

No worries @fabianhjr thank you for the kick in the butt to get this done.

Hey @robertbenjamin, not sure if you can edit the poll type but maybe a check for volunteers instead of a poll?
Robert Benjamin Mon 3 Sep 2018 4:59AM
Sure. I'll see if I can just change the type. If not I'll re-post. I used the Check poll because it allows for members to put theirs (or others) name in as well as vote for multiple choices. I used it in the Tech ops this way before to expedite the process so there didn't have to be 2 polls for every position type but as there is only one for Finance maybe doing the Volunteer one first and the voting one second is the better way to go.

[URGENT] Volunteers for (2) Treasurer positions on Initial Finance Ops Team Closed Mon 10 Sep 2018 5:03AM
A poll to gather volunteers to fill two (2) Treasurer positions on the initial Finance Admin Ops Team as specified in the previously passed Admin Ops proposal.
To volunteer please check yes and add a short statement to pertinent skill set and availability. This poll (may be extended if a minimum of (2) nominees are not received).
A separate proposal will be created for members of the FWG to vote amongst the available pool of (vetted) candidates to fill the (2) Treasurer positions.
Position Title: Treasurer(s)
Position Duties: Create 6 month allocation budget outlining expected expenses and revenue based on previously approved commitments and allocations. Provide monthly update of budget. Review for accuracy, approve, and pay previously budgeted (or sanctioned) reimbursement requests through Open Collective. Explore and report to Finance WG on alternative direct payment options.
Time Commitment: Unknown
Initial Term: 6 Months
Qualifications: Organized. Good Communication. General knowledge of budgeting and finance.
Eligibility: A member of Social.Coop in good standing. Preferably not a member who routinely submits reimbursement requests.
Security Note: Due to direct access of org funds an identity verification and limited scope background check is strongly advised. (Process to be determined by FWG)
Remuneration: Volunteer position. Track hours to split limited $40 monthly remuneration pool amongst team members. (Pending passed Remuneration Budget Proposal)

I may be submitting reimbursements. Plus I should focus my time.

I'd love to help but my knowledge of budgeting is close to non-existent

I'm happy to continue in my role but also happy to step back from it. I'm not on a computer 100% of the time, but generally I've been pretty prompt about approving stuff.

I'd agree, there should be redundancy in all our critical roles like this.
I would also agree with @mattnoyes here that SC needs the ability to enter into contracts and pay invoices in its own right. It isn't fair on individual members to have to provide ownership of and liability for SC assets and infrastructure, not to mention legally fraught. Mayel's recent depature resulting in an urgent need to rehome our software adds considerable emphasis this point.
SC needs to purchase services urgently. I don't know if we can get this ability quickly, but if not we need to rectify it as soon as possible, because otherwise someone else literally has to pay.
There's a thread essentially about this here:
