Kia ora,
We are hoping to use Loomio to seek feedback on our draft policies. It would be great if people could give their feedback by video or audio recording, instead of typing a comment.
For example, when we are developing our policy about accessibility for disabled people, and wanting to make sure we understand the problems they are experiencing correctly, it would be good if they didn't have to type their lived experience but could just tell it to us (perhaps by direct message/private thread)
Slack has this kind of function but I'd rather keep all our engagement in Loomio:
Our members are very busy and I think video feedback would boost our engagement significantly, without having to schedule Zoom meetings.
Is anything like this in the works?

Hi @Julie Nevin - I love that you see the potential for this within Loomio.
I'm just about to release Thread templates, then I'll see what I can do.. it's an exciting challenge, and I think I can see how it would work in my mind.

@Julie Nevin I've had a crack at this. It's mostly there! I'm just working out some browser compatibility issues - it's currently only working on Firefox.
I'll let you know if/when I have a breakthrough

@Julie Nevin - here's the initial release of the feature.
Hi Julie, this is an initial test of the record audio feature. The words I say will be automatically transcribed and appended to my comment after I save it. I hope you like it.

The only caveat I'm aware of currently, is this does not work on Safari. Hopefully one day it will.. but until then, the recording and playing is limited to Chrome and Firefox users.
That's why it's neat that there is automatic transcription to smooth over this issue.
